The Jharkhand government launched the Abua Awas Yojana on 15 August 2023, which aims to provide a 3-room pucca house costing Rs 2 lakh to the people of the poor class or those who do not have a house to live in. The first installment under this scheme has been released on 23 January 2024.
The benefit of this scheme will be available to those people who have not been able to avail the benefits of PM Awas Yojana due to some reason. Under the Abua Awas Yojana, a target has been set to provide housing to 8 lakh poor families by 31 March 2026. So far, more than 31 lakh applications have been received for this scheme, out of which 29.97 lakh applications have been verified.
The beneficiaries will be given an amount of Rs 2 lakh for house construction in five installments. In the first installment, beneficiaries will be provided 15 percent of the total cost, i.e. Rs 30,000, to build the house.

Update News: First installment released
On 9 February 2024, the first installment of Abua Awas Yojana was released to 25,000 poor beneficiaries by the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, Shri Chapai Soren Kolhan. This amount has been deposited directly into the bank accounts of the beneficiaries. Under the scheme, the assistance amount of Rs 2 lakh will be provided in five installments, with Rs 30,000 i.e. 15% of the total amount being given as the first installment.

Recently, Chandrashekhar, Secretary, Rural Development Department, Jharkhand, informed that more than 31 lakh applications have been received so far under the Abua Awas Yojana, out of which verification of 29.97 lakh applications has been completed.
